A Brief Statement on the Capitol Attack

Dear Reader,

I hope you are all (still) staying safe in these troubled times. Honestly, since the British Government announced its third national lockdown, I have been on edge. Anxiety-wise, I have always been a martyr to hypochondria and paranoia. Even though I have to date not displayed any coronavirus symptoms that doesn’t stop me tossing and turning in bed because I think I might be getting a cough or am gasping for air. I am a worrywart, like my mother and her mother before her.

Yet just as I was going to bed, I was shocked at the news coming out of Washington D.C., USA.

To say that Donald Trump has gone too far is an understatement. I saw clips of the video (That YouTube has since deleted but will almost certainly be mirrored) where he continued to state that election was fraudulent despite there being no evidence.

Once more, the insurgents that the BBC New crew interviewed were scary in their thinking. Following Trump’s speech from behind his bullet-proof shields, these people genuinely seem to think that they’re fighting for freedom. Like a cult leader, he incited these people to march on the Capitol. He said, “We will not take it anymore.” He said, “Stop the steal.” Lies after lies.

He better face criminal charges for this.

Stay safe, everyone.
